Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself.
I am large, I contain multitudes.

About the Ribbon

In 2007, I asked other multiples on a forum whether they knew of a commonly recognized symbol for DID/MPD awareness. They couldn't think of one, but were really excited about the idea of there being one. So we asked around for submissions, and then voted for designs. The crazy quilt design on this site is the one that got the most votes. You can read more about the selection process here.

There is nothing to be ashamed about if you are multiple. Whatever the reason you are multiple, it is natural, and it's something to be proud of. Unfortunately, we are more likely to hear messages that being multiple means we are crazy (and that it's bad to be crazy) or that we shouldn't tell people about who we are. That isn't true.

Even if you don't wear or use a ribbon, it's nice to know what it stands for. And the more people who wear a ribbon, the less isolated we will all feel.

DID/MPD Awareness

One thing I've noticed, in talking with other multiples, is how often we feel like we're the only ones we know in our offline lives. We often feel isolated and alone while coping with this. And we often feel uncomfortable talking about being multiple with other people. But at the same time, many of the people I've talked to want a way of knowing that there are other multiples out there. And if it's true that 1% of the population is multiple, odds are, we have probably encountered other multiples in our lives, and we just didn't know it.

One way to build community and feel less alone is to let people know who we are. One way to do that is to have a recognizable symbol. So check out the products, and maybe buy a few to spread the word!

If there is a design you like, but you'd prefer to see it on a different product, email me at jigsaw(dot)analogy(at)gmail(dot)com. I'm adding products whenever I can, and I will be happy to customize something for you.
